On December 5th Microsoft released the fall update for its Xbox360 gaming console.
The update does not only change some gaming settings, but has also some new features for its video playback support.
It added support for DivX- and Xvid-Mpeg-4 Videos in AVI-Containers andan extended HD-Streaming. The HD-DVD Player is unchanged. You can find the complete list of changes in here. Additionally there had been some slight preperations for the upcoming start of the new video marketplace outside the US.
Starting on December 11th therer will be films in Standard Definition for 250 Microsoft points (ca. 3 Euro), High Definition for 380 points (ca 4,50 Euro) per filmavailable in stores and ready for downloading. These new VoD-service will start in six countries. Besides Germany there will be the USA, Canada, Great Britain. Ireland and France. Filmfans can expect the following movies, mainly form Warner Bros. archives. It is still unclear wheter or not theses movies will be all in high-resolutions from start or even later on.
