According to engadget.com there is an ongoing rumour, that Sony will release a new firmwarepdate for its PlayStation 3 even before Christmas 07 and will bring support for Blu-ray Profile 1.1.

In addition, BD+ Technologies has announced the immediate availability of a BD+ Key Issuing Center, as well as test centers for BD+ player verification. In essence, this means that content providers can begin releasing BD+ discs, and hardware manufacturers can verify that their players support the BD+ technology—in theory, existing Blu-ray players should be able to support BD+, but if it were a complete no-brainer there would be no need such a test center.
