"We [Trekmovie.com] reported a few weeks ago that Microsoft was touting ‘remastered Star Trek episodes’ as part of the offering for their new TV download service with XBox Live. Now that the service has gone live we can report that there are a total of 2 HD versions of the remastered Original Series available: ‘Miri’ and ‘The Naked Time’. These two remastered HD episodes are mixed in with the 27 other non-remastered SD versions of the entire first season of the Original Series. All episodes are uncut and cost $2 with the HD versions taking up a signficant 2.5 gigabytes of the 20 GB hard drive (the SD versions take up half a gig)." [...]

Everyone who waited for his problem child HDTV for a long time, because he wanted to be future-proofed and did not want to buy the first best tv-card, can breathe a sigh of relief now, because with the TV-Station DVB-S2 Plus the time of waiting is finally over. KNC1 launched the first functioning DVB-S2 TV-card and accomplished bridging between SDTV via DVB-S and HDTV via DVB-S2, which just accomplished some few manufacturers with their set-top boxes licenced for the German pay-TV channel "Premiere".
KNC ONE kindly provided us with an early version of their card, which we will present to you in here. And even in this circumstances we may expect big results.

[...] "This week Samsung introduces its DMP-BD-P1000 Blu-ray disc player to UK stores, touting it as "the world's first commercial Blu-ray disc player" and expects to sell several thousand of them in the run-up to Christmas. It will cost around £1,000. Also appearing on the UK market is another, slightly more expensive, Blu-ray system, from Samsung's rivals Panasonic. Next month, however, a rival system, HD-DVD, will be introduced by Toshiba. It will cost around half the price of the Blu-ray machines but claims equally impressive improvements in both definition and in storage capacity." [...]

Our user hd-addict used our "Submit News" Function to let us know about:
[...] "Warner’s plan is to create a disc with a Blu-ray top layer that works like a two-way mirror. This should reflect just enough blue light for a Blu-ray player to read it okay. But it should also let enough light through for HD-DVD players to ignore the Blu-ray recording and find a second HD-DVD layer beneath.." [...]
