hi johnnyhdmi,

I don't know, where are from, but in germany there are some hurdles with using hdcp requiring movies with non hdcp capable devices. I encountered some movies, that wouldn't play on hardware, or others had problems with the "hand shake" hdcp can do.

another exampleis apples iTunes and their hd videos. the videos requiering hdcp couldn't been played with even some appleproductsjust because of missing hdcp capacities. just after some bad feedback by apple fans they disabled this, just for now.

I can understand, why the industry wants tohave this, but right now and at the time the article was published, the costumer didn't get anything except problems. they are urged to buy new devices, hadproblems with it and so on and so forth.

there are ways in circumvent this, BUT they are forbidden atleast in germany. and that's why blacky did this article.just to show the costumer some reasons, why any drm and copyprotection mechanism right now does nothing for them, and just for the industry.

so, I realywant to know, where you live. perhaps it's worth living there Wink.

greets, Andreas

Hello Andreas,

It doesn`t really matter where you live - it is just a question of what you use and how.Smile Anyone like big companies or people, who want to make more money, do not really give a damn about "small" people, well, they are wrong when they think this, because first of all they earn their money on these sogenannte "small" people, second of all, because these "small" people can be much smarter than them. So if you are interested in what to use and how, you can contact me at johnnyhdmi@gmail.com

hi,

it's not that easy. it realy depends on wehre you live and what the local laws allow you to do. so it's allways between, what is allowed to to do and what you do and what you do without letting anybody else knowing this.
it's like selling drugs. it's not allowed, but a lot of dealers are doing this all the time. if nobody hinders them they don't stopp, but from time to time the police fullfill their actions according their execution rights.
so that's the same in this case. in Germany, you are not allowed to circumvent any copy control mechanism. so that's discussable, what is an effectiv mechanism and so on, but in the broadest meaning, these devices between your player and you tv is something in the grey arrea. they don't circumvent, but it's still against the manufacturers licence, so that's why these are't allowed to be sold, at least in Germany.

and if you tell people, what you are doing, in my personal opinion, you shouldn't do that here at least Wink.

I'm realy against DRM in current form, becuase I had a lot and lot of trouble because of it, but I stick to rules and laws. So that's why blacky did this article to show people the results of drm and changing their mind and PERHAPS vating other polticians, who can alter or change some laws. that's the only goable way. the rest just lead to a result, a good result for the viewer, but by wrong actions.

greets, Andreas
